Dubai – UAE, April 21, 2016: A female Emirati Quran memoriser has shined at the nine-day Hashemite International Holy Quran Award for Girls which was held in Jordan over the period from April 07 to 15.
Sahar Mohammed Salem Al Mahri, exceptionally scoring 92.9 percent, has won the 10th position in the 11th edition of the annual award which saw a stiff competition from 21 contestants from Arabic and Islamic countries.
Owing to her excellent performance in Quran memorisation and recitation, Sahar was nominated by the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) for participation in the full-Quran category in the global competition.
Sahar expressed her gratitude to the Dubai International Holy Quran Award for the opportunity to represent her country and dedicated her achievement to the leaders and people of the UAE.
H.E. Ibrahim Mohammed Bu Melha, Head of DIHQA Organising Committee and Adviser to the Ruler of Dubai for Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs, attributed the big success to DIHQA’s care of Quran national memorisers.
“The 13-catogry Dubai International Holy Quran Award spares no effort to discover, encourage, support, sponsor, qualify and train Emirati Quran memorisers of all ages.”
This is line with the tireless support and sincere commitment of H.H. Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, main supporter and sponsor of the 20-year-old global Award.
“Such incomparable dedication has helped us attract more local Quran memorisers who remarkably score high in all the international Holy Quran competitions they chip in and proudly represent the UAE worldwide.”
Paying tributes to winner, H.E. Bu Melha said the UAE contestant has managed to secure an advanced position in the award. “Sahar not only scored 92.7 percent, but also came tenth in the ‘Full Quran’ branch.”
Noting, he said they were always so keen on exchanging knowledge and expertise with international Quran awards. “DIHQA is now armed with an elite group of Emirati male and female Quran memorisers.”
Currently, Eng Osama Hashim Al Safi, a DIHQA Quran memoriser known for his perfect memorisation and tuneful recitation, is participating in the Kuwait International Holy Quran Award, which DIHQA has always been very keen to take part in since its inception six years back.
“The 7th edition of the Award, which started on Wednesday April 13 and is to end on Wednesday April 20, is also to see the participation of Abdullah Ali Hashim Ahmed Al Hashemi, another competent DIHQA full Quran memoriser.”
